Urgent Advocacy Updates:

We need your Help in California ASAP!!

Please visit ProtectKratom.org/California to contact California lawmakers and urge them to rein in the CDPH. Share your story and tell them to follow the FDA’s lead and focus enforcement on synthetics and adulterated products, not natural kratom.

New Mexico Update:

The New Mexico Department of Justice has issued a public statement expressing concerns about kratom and is inviting New Mexicans to share their experiences:

Share your story

If you live in New Mexico—or know someone who does—please take a moment to submit a thoughtful, respectful comment describing how kratom has impacted your life. Personal stories make a real difference.

Utah Advocacy Update:

Utah, the first state to pass the Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA), is now facing renewed efforts to ban or heavily restrict Kratom.

While there’s no active ban in place, anti-Kratom media coverage and potential new legislation could put future access at risk. If Utah falls, other states could follow.

What You Can Do:

If you live in Utah, you can help protect Kratom by joining local advocacy efforts.

Kratom advocate Lora Romney, who has spoken at past hearings and on the Kratom Stories Podcast, is organizing a team of consumers to:
• Email or call local lawmakers
• Attend or testify at hearings
• (Optionally) share their Kratom story with media

Get involved by contacting Lora directly: lora@plantsandherbals.org

The Importance of Kratom Advocacy: Protecting Consumer Rights

Kratom has become a crucial component in the lives of many Americans, offering support for various health and wellness needs. Despite its benefits, Kratom faces potential regulatory challenges that could restrict consumer access. Advocacy efforts, such as those led by specific vendors in the industry alongside the American Kratom Association (AKA), are vital in ensuring that Kratom remains accessible and safe for consumers.

Why This Matters:
Over the past 18 months, new scientific research has prompted a major shift in how the FDA views Kratom. Despite this progress, outdated Import Alerts remain in place, acting as a de facto ban and limiting access without a valid reason. By pushing for updated language in FDA reports, we can help ensure that future regulations are based on current science and not outdated assumptions.

How It Impacts Your State:
Your voice helps protect access to safe, regulated Kratom for millions of Americans, including your neighbors. Advocacy also supports common-sense oversight, ensuring that Kratom remains available to responsible consumers without unnecessary government overreach.

Take Action Today:
Getting involved is fast and simple! All you need to do is share your Kratom story to make a difference.

Use the links below to make your voice heard:

Why Your Voice Matters

  2. Contact Your Representatives: Engaging with your state and federal representatives is crucial. The AKA offers resources to help you reach out to policymakers, ensuring they understand the significance of Kratom in your life and the need for its protection.

  3. Stay Informed and Involved: Joining advocacy groups like the AKA keeps you updated on legislative developments and upcoming events. Sign up for their Newsletter! It's the best way to stay up-to-date on what's currently happening within Kratom legislation.

  4. Support Consumer Protection Laws: Advocating for legislation such as the Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) ensures that Kratom products are safe and accessible. Supporting these initiatives helps establish regulations that protect consumers from adulterated or mislabeled products.

Your involvement in Kratom advocacy is instrumental in preserving access to this important botanical. By taking action, you contribute to a movement dedicated to protecting consumer rights and promoting informed legislation.

What is the Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA)?

The Kratom Consumer Protection Act is state-level legislation designed to regulate the Kratom industry and protect consumers. It ensures that Kratom products are:

  • Properly labeled and tested for contaminants

  • Free from adulterants or dangerous additives

  • Only sold to individuals over a certain age (usually 18 or 21)

The KCPA gives consumers confidence in the safety and quality of the products they’re using while also helping keep Kratom legal and responsibly regulated. More and more states are adopting the KCPA as a smart alternative to bans, offering a balanced path forward that benefits everyone.

Closing Thoughts

Kratom advocacy is about more than just policy; it’s about protecting freedom of choice, supporting wellness, and standing up for natural alternatives that work.

Whether you’ve benefited from Kratom yourself or simply believe in the right to access safe and effective botanicals, your voice can make a real difference.

With continued education, responsible regulation like the KCPA, and unified public support, we can ensure that Kratom remains accessible for those who need it.

Its my belief that the big alcohol lobbyists are behind the banning efforts as they see themselves losing revenue

Chris in CT

Can you tell us which lawmakers in CT have been pushing the proposed ban on kratom? I signed the petition to the Governor, but I also want to contact the supporters of this bill directly.
