When you're in a hurry (or maybe just a little clumsy like Puddles Hippo), there’s probably been a time or two where you accidentally spilled Kratom powder on your clothes.

Stains suck!

Kratom powder is extremely dusty and messy. It gets everywhere, and it can be a real hassle to clean up. It’s usually not a big deal until you've stained your favorite shirt or pair of pants. Once Kratom powder makes contact with fabric, you need to be extra mindful of how you clean it so that you can prevent creating a more serious stain.

After over a decade of using Kratom, Puddles Hippo has split a lot of Kratom... Apparently it’s harder to make your Kratom when you don’t have opposable thumbs (yikes).

Luckily, after tons of trial and error, we figured out the best and easiest methods to get rid of Kratom stains. In this article, we are going to share 3 of the easiest and most effective ways to make a pesky Kratom stain disappear!

3 Ways to Effectively Remove a Kratom Stain

Ahhh, man! You stained your clothes! Don’t worry. As we already pointed out, it happens to everyone. Fortunately, we’re here to help you get your clothes looking good as new.

Use Distilled White Vinegar

Distilled white vinegar is one of the best natural cleaning solutions. There are hundreds of uses for it. It’s great for stain removal, deodorizing clothes, and so much more. Vinegar contains acetic acid, and it’s mild enough to fight stubborn stains without ruining the fabric. You can even combine it with other ingredients to enhance the effectiveness. The best part is, you probably already have some handy at home!

Pro-tip: Combining distilled white vinegar with dawn dish soap creates an even stronger solution.

Here are some simple steps to follow when stop-treating stains using distilled white vinegar:

  1. Be sure to dilute the vinegar with water before using. If using a combination of vinegar and dish soap, create the mixture beforehand. Combine 1 tbsp of vinegar, 1 tbsp of dish soap, and 2 cups of cold water in a bowl.
  2. Lay the article of clothing on a flat surface and locate the stain
  3. Pour a small amount of the vinegar (or mixture) directly onto the stain
  4. Using an old rag, carefully dab (do not rub) the stain, then allow the solution to sit and soak for at least 30 minutes
  5. Before putting it in the washing machine, briefly sponge the area with cold water to help pull the stain and the remaining solution from the fabric.
  6. Toss clothing in the washing machine and wash gently with COLD water. Using cold water is key!

Use OxiClean Max Force Laundry Stain Remover

If you don’t mind using a chemical-based stain remover, we’ve found that OxiClean Max Force is the best non-bleach stain remover to use on Kratom stains. Especially if the Kratom dust has already gotten wet before treatment.

Here are some steps to follow when using OxiClean Max Force Laundry Stain Remover:

  1. Lay the article of clothing on a flat surface and locate the stain
  2. Spray directly onto the stain until it’s completely saturated
  3. Dip an old rag in COLD water and carefully dab the stain
  4. Let stand for up to 10 minutes
  5. Toss clothing in the washing machine and wash gently with COLD water

Use Hydrogen Peroxide (WHITES ONLY!)

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is an oxidizing agent that can be used as laundry bleach. It can help whiten dingy clothes and also treat yellowish-green stains with ease. This is another common household item that you might already have on hand!

  1. Lay the article of clothing on a flat surface and locate the stain
  2. Pour or spray a small amount of hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain
  3. Allow to soak for about 10 minutes
  4. Toss clothing in the washing machine and wash gently with COLD water

If the stain persists after using any of these methods, simply repeat the steps again. The stain will gradually fade with each wash and application.

What NOT To Do (Things To Avoid)

Let’s say you’re making a cup of Kratom tea and the spoon slips right through your fingers. Great - now you have Kratom dust all over your pants. Yikes!

Instead of carrying on as usual, you should stop in your tracks and take care of the mess right away. The faster you get to it, the chance of it developing into a permanent stain is much lower.

Here are a couple of things to avoid when you get Kratom dust on your clothes:

  • Don’t get it wet!

  • Kratom stains can be completely avoided by not getting the powder wet. Most stains occur when Kratom powder gets on your clothes and the dust gets wet. Applying moisture to a Kratom stain will cause the powder to settle into the fabric and adhere to the fibers.

If you spill powder on your clothes - immediately remove the article of clothing and go outside to shake it out. Sometimes just shaking it out will clear away the mess and you don’t even have to worry about stain removal.

  • Apply treatment BEFORE putting it in the wash.

  • The key to removing a stubborn stain is to take action as soon as you possibly can. Be sure to treat the stain with solution BEFORE putting it in the washing machine.

The Best Practice to Prevent Kratom Stains

Accidents happen. Sometimes there’s no way around it. Fortunately, there are things you can do that will reduce the overall risk of staining your clothes. After all, prevention is the best treatment!

    1. Avoid wearing long-sleeved shirts while preparing Kratom. Or if you’re wearing one, roll up your sleeves BEFORE preparing or handling Kratom powder.

    2. Prepare your Kratom serving over the sink and wear an apron or old clothes that you don’t care about spilling on.

    3. If you’re transferring a large amount of Kratom powder into a new container, always pour slowly and carefully. Do it over the sink as well. Kratom powder is very dusty. If you pour quickly, it will splash out and create a big dustball.

    4. If you have shaky or unstable hands, we recommend using Kratom capsules instead of loose powder. Capsules contain pre-filled and measured amounts of Kratom powder. They are much less messy and easier to use!

We hope this information helps. Hopefully you don’t have to worry about ugly Kratom stains on your favorite shirt ever again! Because next time you get a stain… you’ll know exactly what to do.
