Everything You Need to Know About Happy Hippo’s Elite Elephant Kratom

We are strong believers in the outstanding difference between cheap Kratom and quality Kratom. It’s like night and day. Seriously. Freshness, sourcing, testing, handling, packaging, and overall leaf quality all matter.

We believe customers should be able to tell the difference from the moment they open the pouch. Quality kratom should look fresh, smell fresh, feel consistent, and come from a vendor that takes sourcing and safety seriously.

Before a strain is added to our line-up, we conduct extensive testing and research to ensure we have a superior leaf. To accomplish this, we’ve established close connections with our farmers. They are the best at what they do, cultivating exceptionally healthy Kratom trees. We guarantee that you won’t be disappointed with the quality and potency of our Kratom.

That brings us to one of Happy Hippo’s most consistently popular moderate kratom strains: Green Malay Kratom, also known at Happy Hippo as Elite Elephant.

Green Malay Kratom is one of the most versatile Malaysian kratom strains. It is smooth, balanced, and flexible enough to fit into many different kratom routines. If you are looking for a moderate strain that sits between fast and slow, Green Malay may be one of the best kratom strains to try.

In this guide, we will cover:

  • What Green Malay Kratom is
  • Why Malaysian kratom strains are popular
  • Green Malay’s general alkaloid profile
  • Green Malay vs. White Malay and Red Malay
  • Malay kratom vs. Maeng Da, Borneo, Bali, and Thai kratom
  • Green Malay serving size guidance
  • How to store kratom powder
  • Where to buy high-quality Malay kratom

What is Green Malay Kratom?

Green Malay Kratom, sometimes called Green Malaysian Kratom, is a green vein kratom strain associated with Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region where Mitragyna speciosa grows.

The kratom tree is a tropical evergreen in the coffee family. Its leaves are harvested, dried, and milled into kratom powder. Different kratom strains are often categorized by region, vein color, drying method, and overall leaf profile.

Green Malay is known as a moderate kratom strain because it offers a balanced profile. It is not usually described as intensely fast like many white vein strains, and it is not typically as heavy or slow as many red vein strains. Instead, Green Malay sits comfortably in the middle.

At Happy Hippo, we call our Green Malay Elite Elephant because it has earned a place as one of our most reliable and well-rounded strains.

What Makes Malaysian Kratom Strains Unique?

Malaysian kratom strains are some of the most popular regional kratom varieties. Search terms like Green Malay Kratom, White Malay Kratom, Red Malay Kratom, Malaysian Kratom, and Malay Kratom Powder are commonly used by people looking for balanced, region-specific kratom products.

Malay strains are often described as smooth, steady, and long-lasting by experienced kratom customers. While every batch and every person is different, Malaysian kratom has earned a reputation for being dependable and versatile.

The three most common Malay kratom strains are:

  • Green Malay Kratom
  • White Malay Kratom
  • Red Malay Kratom

Each strain color has its own personality, but they all share the broader Malay family reputation for quality and consistency.

Kratom Alkaloid Profile

The leaves of the Kratom tree contain dozens of natural compounds called “alkaloids”. The most abundant of these are Mitragynine and 7-Hydroxymitragynine. These natural compounds are what make Kratom so special, producing the effects.

Every strain has a unique ‘alkaloid profile’ that is dependent on the specific alkaloid content. Green Malay Kratom is known to have reasonably high concentrations of alkaloids. So, let’s quickly go over the alkaloid profile.

Green Malay Kratom Benefits: What People Look For

A substantial factor that directly affects a strain’s alkaloid profile is the vein color of the leaf. The color of the veins on the Kratom leaf changes as they grow, it’s what helps farmers determine when the Kratom is ready to harvest. As the Kratom leaves continue to mature throughout the plant's lifecycle, the alkaloids develop and evolve, becoming more and more robust.

Malay Kratom comprises 3 strain colors - Green Malay, White Malay, and Red Malay. Let’s go over the general characteristics of each.

Green Vein Malay: Green vein Malay (Elite Elephant) is arguably the most balanced of the bunch. The effects consist of clean energy, a happy mentality, and minor discomfort relief.

Hippo Tip: Try Green Malay as a replacement for Green Maeng Da or Green Bali if your receptors need a little refresher!

White Vein Malay: White vein Malay (Thunder Hippo) is an extremely powerful strain. The white alkaloids indicate high levels of Mitragynine, so the effects are very stimulating to the mind and body.
Red Vein Malay: Red vein Malay (Fire Hippo) is best described as feeling like a nice warm hug. The effects are thought to provide exceptional discomfort relief, deep relaxation, and a positive mindset.

How Much Green Malay Kratom Should I Take?

If it’s your first time using Green Malay Kratom powder (or Kratom in general), start with a small serving size. About 1-2 grams is best to evaluate the effects. You should start to feel the effects within 20-30 minutes.

If the effects aren’t apparent, try again about an hour or two later, but this time, increase your serving size by a ½ gram. Make sure to slow down and really evaluate the effects you’re experiencing. Continue to increase by ½ gram increments as needed, or until you’ve reached your desired effect.

Use a teaspoon (not a tablespoon) to help you measure your Kratom powder serving!

1 level Teaspoon = 2 grams of Kratom powder

What to expect:

1-2 grams: This is the perfect serving size for beginners, or if you’re trying a new strain for the first time.

  • Note: Our Kratom is known to be stronger than our competitors'. You really don’t need much!

3-4 grams: This is considered a moderate serving size for regular Kratom users.

5-7 grams: This is considered a fairly large serving size, but some daily users have higher serving sizes.

9-10 grams: This is considered a LARGE serving size. Most people who require this large a serving size have probably been using Kratom for years and developed a tolerance. If your serving size is above 9 grams, try practicing some strategies to reduce your Kratom tolerance.

Why Start Low with Green Malay Kratom?

Starting low is important with any kratom strain, including Green Malay. Every customer responds differently based on body chemistry, experience level, serving size, strain rotation, and other factors.

A smaller serving size gives you a chance to understand the strain before increasing. This is especially important if you are using a new batch, trying Green Malay for the first time, or switching from a different strain such as Maeng Da, Bali, Thai, Borneo, or Indo kratom.

Similar Strains to Malay Kratom

Despite their differing alkaloid profiles, a few strains tend to resonate similarly with Malay Kratom. It’s always beneficial to know what strains are similar to one another, just in case you run out and need a quick replacement!

For the most part, corresponding colors will resonate relative to one another.

Based on our experience, these 3 strains are adequately comparable to Malay Kratom.

Green Maeng Da (Hyper Hippo): As mentioned above, Green Maeng da is a good substitute for Green Malay if you need a little refresher to your Kratom routine. The clean energy boost from Green Malay is comparable to the motivational effects of Green Maeng Da.

White Thai (Lightning Hippo): We sometimes refer to White Thai as the “cousin” of White Malay because they resonate very similarly. Energized body and spirit, and lots of motivation!

Red Bali (Red Dragon Bali): You probably guessed it - Red Bali is a good substitute for Red Malay! Both strains share similar properties of relaxation and discomfort relief.

Please note that Kratom affects everyone differently. What we consider to be ‘similar’ may not necessarily be the same for you.

Malay Kratom vs. Borneo Kratom

In a general sense, Borneo and Malay Kratom strains present similar effects. The alkaloid profiles are comparable, with the exception of White Borneo and Green Borneo, which have been shown to contain extremely elevated levels of Mitragynine. So, they’re much more potent than most Malay strains.

Borneo Kratom strains include:

Malay Kratom vs. Maeng Da Kratom

Maeng Da Kratom is (arguably) the most popular Kratom strain of all time, and also the most potent! The high potency of these strains provides pleasant energy and an upbeat attitude. Compared to Malay Kratom, Maeng Da is known to be stronger and more robust.

Maeng Da Kratom strains include:

How to Store Green Malay Kratom Powder

Proper storage helps keep kratom powder fresh.

Store Green Malay Kratom in a:

  • Cool place
  • Dry place
  • Dark cabinet or pantry
  • Sealed pouch or airtight jar
  • Container protected from moisture and sunlight

Kratom powder should not be exposed to moisture, heat, or direct UV light. Like other raw botanicals, kratom can degrade or develop quality issues if stored improperly.

Happy Hippo kratom comes in resealable packaging, but some customers prefer transferring their kratom powder to an airtight glass jar. Amber glass jars can help reduce light exposure.
